Media Matters

This week the blog topic is elections. The class is discussing the Hip Hop Summit Action Network which "seeks to foster initiatives amied at engaging the Hip-Hop generation in community development issues related to equal access to high quality public education and literacy, freedom of speech, voter education, economic advancement, and youth leadership development." The first Hip-Hop summit in 2001 was themed "Taking Back Responsibility."

I shared the streaming video Vote! from Media Matters by using an LCD projector connected to my computer. The question the students are to respond to is: Why is it important to be politically aware and prepared to vote?
